First off, shoutout to all the participants in this year’s competition. It has been a tough time for all of us to just stay afloat, but thanks to your innovativeness, empathy, and insight in education, I am privileged to be exposed to different ways of optimizing teaching and learning under this ‘new normal’ circumstance. It is also encouraging to learn that not only were your students well taken care of, but you also developed as aspiring educators. This certainly echoes the spirit of the proverb ‘He/She who teaches, learns,’ which is no doubt the central theme of this year’s competition. All these were showcased not only in the award-winning entries, but also in most of your work. Congratulations, and thank you to all of you for making the most out of this new normal as well as putting on such a high-quality performance.

A huge thank you to everyone who entered this year’s ‘Field Experience Best Practices Promoting and Accelerating Teacher Professional Growth’ Writing Competition. As in previous years, there were many entries– from all programmes in our University. We were pleased to read writings from different students. A small group of excellent stories were decided to win the prize in the final round of the writing contest. Judges Dr Chung, Dr Ma and I were faced with the difficult task to find the winners.
The judges compared and contrasted the favourite writings out of those left. This was not easy and took some days to accomplish. But we are really enjoyed to read all the writings who entered this competition. Some of the vivid and effective descriptive writing are memorable.
Competition teaches us big lessons; it drives us to be the best we can be. Again, we’d like to thank you for your incredible contributions and entries to this year’s competition. We absolutely loved reading your words, and we hope that you all enjoy the fantastic anthology and learn from each other through this website.
